私は管理会計を業務で用いているので自分の知識を改めて整理してみたいと思ってこの本を読みました。“入門”というタイトルにはやや偽りがあり、入門編にしては妙に広範囲にわたって書かれています。管理会計そのものについて学ぶというよりも、企業における様々な事象と管理会計の関わりについて主に述べられている本という感じですね。この本を読んでもP/Lや原価が計算できるようになるわけではありません。

製品品質に関する言及などについては、私自身はこれまで管理会計の出る幕のないジャンルだと思っていただけに、この本の記述には新鮮味を感じました。また、旧来の管理会計が企業の最新の状況にはなかなか対応できなくなりつつあり、弊害を発生させているという件などはグサリと来ました。

この本はいわゆる会計そのものではなく、会計の切り口からの経営戦略、意思決定、業績評価等が非常にわかりやすく書かれていて興味深い。基本的な組織設計から今注目されているABM・原価企画といった最先端の戦略的コストマネジメントまでの知識が一通り得ることができる。

京セラの稲盛氏を持ち出すまでもなく経営に会計は不可欠である。経営のための会計の入門書として、ビジネスマンはもちろん、これから管理会計を学ぼうとする学生にもおすすめしたい一冊である。

管理会計入門というタイトルだが、内容は管理会計の手法についてというよりも管理会計が前提とする会社組織構造と経営管理プロセスと会計の関係や考え方を解説したものとなっています。原価企画、ABC/ABM、SCM(サプライ・チェーン・マネジメント)、BSC(バランス・スコア・カード)など流行りモノの最近の管理会計についての記述が中心ですが、従来の伝統的な管理会計についてももっと触れて欲しかった気がします。
