わたしは現在まで、５７６冊の自己啓発書を読んできた「自己啓発書マニア」です。『７つの習慣』も読みました。『思考は現実化する』も読みました。古典では幸田露伴『努力論』から中村天風『成功の実現』までほとんど読みました。

それら自己啓発書の中で、この『生命の實相』は第一位です。

他類書と比較した際、本書は以下の面で卓越しています。

▼筆力（巧みな例え話や引用力）や感染力という点において。
▼読んだだけで人格改善が自然になされるか、という点において。
▼読了後の効果が持続するか、という点において。
▼紹介されている改善技法は容易か、という点において。
▼実行不能な事を読者に勧めないか、という点において。
▼何より読了後の「感動の程度」という点において。

谷口雅春という著者は、この『生命の實相』シリーズを書くために１０万冊の本を読んだらしい。読了後、わたしは著者に向かい「恐れ入りました。１０万冊の本読んだという、貴方の話にウソはありませんでした。」との感想を述べました。（１０万冊の本を読むのに人はどれくらいの時間を要するであろう。１日３冊の本を読んでも１年ではせいぜい１０００冊しか本を読むことができない。）
昭和六年にこんな自己啓発書があったという事。我々はもっとこの本にあたるべきだ！最近「自分探しの旅」に出かける若者が多いが、本書『生命の實相』の読書機会は、旅行以上の自己発見の旅となるであろう。
自己改善の「保証」します。絶対に買いです。

私は、この本を16、17歳の頃から読んでいますが、この本は
本当に素晴らしい本です。(今は21歳)
宗教とか、そういうのを無視して読めるのでは？
と思います。この本は人として当たり前の事が書いてあるので
色々と不評を言う方もいられるみたいですが、その当たり前の事が
出来ていない人が多い、こんな時代だからこそ読んでほしい一冊です。
全部で40巻もありますが、無理せず読んで頂きたいと思います。
この本を書かれた谷口先生は印税は入ってきてはなく
生涯亡くなられるまで小さな家に奥さんと仲良く暮らされた
と聞いています。
そう、聞いた時、この本を書かれた谷口先生は本当に素敵な方だと
感じ、今も又この本を読んでいる。そんな感じです。
皆さん、騙されたと思って読んで下さい。

第１巻は「生命の実相」全巻の代表例として挙げただけです。私は「生長の家」の信者ではありませんし、いわゆる「宗教」は今でも嫌いです。かつての私だったらこんな本（と言っては失礼ですが）全然読む気がしなかったでしょうし、大抵の人はそうでしょうが、宗教の本だからといって毛嫌いせず、だまされたと思って一度読んでみてください。もっとも、本当はこれは誰にでもお薦めできる本ではありません。何というか、いきなり高いところまで行ってしまっている感じで、今まで精神世界のことに興味がなかった人が読んでも何のことだかわからないかもしれません。読んでみて「何だこりゃ？」と思っても、「だめだこの本は」と思わず、「まだこの本を読む準備ができていないのだ」と考えていただきたいと思います。
