レース編みは多少知っているけど基本的な技術がいまひとつあやふやだった私には役に立ちました。
それぞれのレースの技法が初心者にもわかりやすく、詳しく載っていて、レトロな感じの作品ができるようになっています。

これまでぼんやりした知識しかなかったレースがより身近に感じられた一冊。
断片的に手を出していた「糸もの手芸」があれもこれもレースの仲間だったのかと知って、もっとレースが好きになりました。
編むレース、結ぶレース、織るレース、かがるレースといった具合に、部門ごとにレースの歴史から書かれていて、読み物としても楽しめました。テクニックも、モノクロ図ながら(口絵はカラー)、詳しく解説されています。解説本文のタイポグラフィーはやや時代を感じさせるレトロ調です。
書店の店頭ではまず見ることのない本なので、レースが好きな方なら大変参考になると思います。

3.0 out of 5 stars いろんなレースの種類を知るにはいいのかも, 2008/10/18
いろいろな種類のレースの基本が押さえてある本です。
私はボビンレースが目的で購入したのですが、
基礎中の基礎の織り方→それを使った織り方、はいいとして、
その次の段階はハードル高すぎてどこからどう織り進むものなのかさっぱりわかりませんでした。
教室に通わずに本だけで練習するにはこの本は不向きだと思いました。

各種レースの紹介を見て、「これだ！」と思うものを見つけるための本、と考えたほうがいいのかもしれません。
