ハーブ！　昨今のガーデニングブームとともにほそぼそと続いていたハーブのブームも、最近はメジャーになってきた。ところがいざ、どの植物がどんな薬効を持ち、どんな姿をし、どんな学名なのかそれを調べる事典と言うのはなかなか無かった。

この本は、ハンディタイプだが、ハーブの全体像や花や使用部分などを写真で説明し、しかも英名・学名を表記しているから、どれがどのハーブなのか、使用法など、手軽に調べることができる。
是非、是非、目を通すだけでもいい。
そのことで、知識は頭の中に蓄積されていくのだから。
お薦めである。

これもハーブだったの？というような植物までかなりの広範囲にわたり記載してあるので見ごたえがあります。
図鑑なので栽培法などはありませんが、ラテン語学名が載っているので私のような素人が海外からハーブ種などを購入する際はとても役に立ちます。
レイアウトもかなりシンプルに且、美しく仕上げてあるので誰でも眺めて楽しめる図鑑です。

カラー写真図鑑であることと、掲載ハーブの範囲が広いことがよい。
ただし、効果効能については、走り書き、概要説明程度なのがおしい。

また、Indexがアルファベットとカナ引きとで、載っていたりいなかったりがあり、別名、学名などの知識がないと、ピンポイントで「調べる」のは難しいが、博物誌として、寝る前に眺めるには最高。
読み返すたびに
「これもハーブなの？」
「こんな効能あるんだ」
といった発見があるので、１年は遊べる
