ベンチャー・ファイナンスについて、ベンチャー企業と投資家の両側面から実践的な手法を体系的に纏めた良書。また、邦訳も著者の元生徒というのも働いてか、非常に丁寧に遺漏無く施されている。具体的な数値例やスプレッドシート例が豊富で、実務家にとって非常に示唆に富む内容で満足できるものと思料される。アートとサイエンスの融合したＶＣの本格書といえよう。

起業やアントレへむけた本は多数あるが、これらの多くは実際の金の借り方等の制度金融が中心である。一方、このテキストは、アントレの立場に立つ時いかにリスクをビジネスプランに反映させ、ファイナンスだけに留まらず、ビジネスを成功させるかを、難解な資本コストの算定やバリエーションをおりまぜながら見事に提示してくれる。インベストメントやコーポレートファイナンスを学んだ者であれば、その恩恵は最大化されよう。但し、専用ソフトは有料であるので、本代＋3000円程度のコストがかかることから、苦言を一言、「理解を深めるため多くの練習問題が添付されるが、これらの解答入手に原書元の米国法人にコンタクトをとるも一切連絡がこないことや、訳者であるＶＣに連絡するもまったく返答がない（ただし、このＶＣはテキスト内でもコンタクトを留保していますので責任はない）など不誠実な対応から本の価値は半減する。したがって、既にクリスタルＢなどのソフトがあれば専用ソフトのダウンロードの必要はないし、ＭＢＡテキストとしても採用は適切ではない。繰り返すが、テキスト自体は優れている。
