ロバート・サブダのしかけ絵本を買いに行ったのですが、店頭で見本を見比べてみて、断然こちらの方が気に入りました。見かけは普通の本のようですが、開くと五角形のオブジェになります。ポップアップのような派手な驚きはないのですが、とても美しく繊細で真っ白な切り絵（キリスト生誕をあらわしている）と、背景の赤、縁取りの緑の配色がクリスマスらしく、それでいて白の分量が多いのでとてもシックです。リビングに飾っておいても妙に子供っぽくならずにしっくりきます。センス良く飾っておくなら英語版、お話も楽しみたいなら日本語版がお勧めです。私は両方買って知人にプレゼントしまくりましたが、それが大評判で、その知人達がまたプレゼント用に購入したそうです。

「あ、これ」と本屋で手に取りましたのは、何かに紹介されていたこの本がずっと脳裏にへばりついていたから。
本をぐるっと360度開いて、閉じないように紐で縛る方式の本です。
赤と白の、シンプルな切り絵の「イエス誕生物語」がそうすると、五部屋か六部屋のポップアップとして立ち上がるのです。
切り絵は面白いし、形もユニークだし、で星四でもよかったんですが、やっぱりちょっとお値段が・・・ということで、一つ減らして頂きました。
