日本の財務会計の代表的教科書として長年に渡って利用されてきた良書だが、平成5年（1993年）を最後に改訂されていない。その後日本の会計は「ビッグバン」によって全くといっていいほど変わってしまった。従ってこの本に書かれている多くのことが時代遅れになってしまった。

この本は「この部分は古い」、「この内容は現在は変更されている」ということが分かる人以外は使用すべきではない。この本を参考に公認会計士、税理士、簿記などの資格試験などを受験するのは大変危険である。

しかし基本的な事項については現在でも参考になる内容は多く、日本の会計基準設定機関であるASBJの研究書などにもこの本が数多く引用されている。

著者の飯野教授は85歳。長らく日本の会計学をリードしてきた一人だが、改訂版の出版は残念ながら不可能だろうか。アメリカや国際会計基準の波が日本を襲い、日本の伝統的な会計学も同時に役割を終えつつあるということかもしれない。

本著は中央大学の飯野教授による
財務諸表論の標準的テキスト。

本著を通じ、財務諸表論を勉強した人は数多いのでは
ないだろうか。

本著の特徴は、読みやすい、わかりやすい、
それぞれが短くコンパクトにまとめられている、
目次もしっかりしていて、非常に使いやすい
というところであると思う。

私が学生の時以降、追加ページが加えられたりしているが
最近の状況に合わせた改訂版の発行を願ってやまない。

基礎を固めには良い本ですが、内容がかなり古くなっています。特にここ数年間で、会計は大きく変わってきていますので、別の書でフォローする必要があります。といっても、日本には会計関係の良書（中味のある本）が驚くほど少ないのが実態です。本書は数少ない良書なだけに、Up Dateされると良いのですが。
