子どもが、園から借りてきて、一緒に読みました。主人公ゆうきの、おばあちゃんを思う気持ち、おばあちゃんの愛情、ファンタジーの中に、せつない思いやりがからまっていて、胸にこみ上げてくるものがあります。何度読んでも、うちの子は、園の「絵本貸し出し」の日になると、毎週借りて来るんです。園の中でも人気が出てきてしまったので、ついに、うちでも一冊買いました。おばあちゃんが、夢の中で、天国のおじいちゃんとダンスを踊るシーンでは、いつも喜んで、同じようにダンスの仕草をしながら読んでいます。大人が読んでも、嬉しくなる絵本を教えてくれた子どもに感謝。是非、たくさんの人に薦めたい一冊です。

水彩画のきれいな表紙に惹かれて読んだ絵本です。

この絵本の　　ひ・み・つ　　はちょっとロマンチックな秘密。
内表紙にこんなフレーズがありました。

「ぼくの　おばあちゃん、　てんごくの　おじいちゃんと　４０ねんぶりに　あってね、
　ダンスが　したいのです。
　とっても　とっても、　したいのです。」

そう、主人公の男の子はおばあちゃんの為に天国のおじいちゃんに何とかおばあちゃんの気持ちを伝えようとします。
ゆうきくんが体験する不思議な事、それから、おじいちゃんを想い続けるおばあちゃんの気持ち、それらが　ひ・み・つ　なのかな？と思いました。

ページ数は52ページとちょっと長めですが
きれいな水彩画のページ以外にも白黒のページ、
お手紙を描いたページ、
それからたばたせいいちさんの別の絵本　おしいれのぼうけん　の絵本を主人公が持っているなど
見ている人が楽しめる作りになっているので、あっという間に読み終りました。

この本は今年度の課題図書ということで厳しい目で読みました。確かに死んだおじいちゃんとダンスしたいというおばあちゃんの願いは大人にはうけるけれども、小学校低学年の子には理解できにくいと思います。またファンタジーなのでそれが夢の中でかなうという結末には、甘さを感じてしまいました。これではこの本を読んだ子どもはいったいどんな感想文を書けばいいのでしょうねえ。
少なくとも子どもは感動しない内容なので、夏休みの感想文を書かせる目的での購読はお勧めできません。
