コーポレート・ファイナンスの範囲は学者の本を見てもわかるとおり本来は非常に広いものですが、本書はそのうち、NPVやEVAといった経営指標と価値創造型経営に係る論点を中心にまとめたものです。各章のはじめは架空の会社の社長と部下のストーリー仕立てとなっており、多くの会社で価値創造経営に関連して問題になるであろうトピックを簡潔かつうまくまとめています。NPVとEVAの関係や財務的視点と経営上の戦略・戦術との関連についても簡潔に整理されています。『エグゼクティブのための』、とありますが、まさにノン・ファイナンシャルのマネジャーが経営的な視点から価値創造型経営を俯瞰する上で有益な本と思います。表現もわかりやすいのでオススメです。

本書は、「ビジネスゼミナール経営財務入門」「ビジネスゼミナール証券分析入門」でお馴染みの高橋文郎氏が、これまでの大学院での教育活動の経験を踏まえて、ビジネスマン向けに執筆したコーポレート・ファイナンスの入門書。

コーポレート・ファイナンスは、その範囲の広さゆえ、入門書が書きにくい分野といわれている。実際、筆者が執筆した上記著作も「入門書」とはいいにくい。この点本書は、まずジャパン・インダストリー社という架空の会社が、事業のリストラチャリングに着手する際に社長と役員との間で交わされる会話を通して、多くの日本企業が共通に抱える問題点や多くの日本企業の役員陣の間で議論されるようなテーマを掲げた上で、企業財務の標準的理論のエッセンスについて説明がなされている。また、ケーススタディでは、日本企業の経営戦略・財務戦略や企業の財務データが紹介されている。研究者ゆえ、文章も明快。一気に読める。

「難しい」ことを「難しく」書くのは「簡単」だが、「難しい」ことを「簡単」に書くのは「難しい」もの。その意味で完成度は高い。「ファイナンシャル・リテラシー」が「ちょっと」と思っているビジネスマンにお薦め。読破後は、巻末の参考文献にチャレンジしてはいかがだろうか。

もっとも、本書のもとは2003年12月から2004年7月まで連載された雑誌ゆえ、特に目新しい記載はない。

企業価値算定の考え方や数式を、最新の傾向も踏まえ分かり易く学ぶには最適な本だと思います。入門書として非常にお勧めです。この類の本で分厚い本は多数出版されていますが、買った時の意気込みだけで結構挫折してしまうことが多いので、これくらいの分量と内容が入門書としてはちょうど良いと思います。
ストーリー立てて紹介されているので読み易いです。
