戦略論に関する項目が網羅的にかつバランス良く説明されています。しかし、私にとっては本書の中身は概念的過ぎました。概念的であるゆえお勉強としては適している本です。しかし、他の経営論関係の本と比較して仕事で使える内容かというと、「?」なので星3つです。

「当社には戦略がない」「当部門には戦略がない」という批判はどの組織でもよく聞かれるものである。果たしてここでいう「戦略」とは何か。兵隊が前線で戦う為の具体的な「戦術」を求めることとMixしていないか。今一度、改めて考えるには本書は最適である。
戦略とは、「持続的競争優位を達成する為のポジショニングを構築すること」であると定義し、どのようなサービスを提供するか（或いはしないか）、どのように持てる資源（ヒト、モノ、カネ）を配分するかを選択することであると論じている。
会社･事業部門の将来のあるべき姿（ミッション、ビジョン）を問い直し、現在地と目的地を見極め、どうやってそこに到達するか、という点が戦略の策定に非常に重要なプロセスとなる。

戦略を考える上で重要なことは、自問自答するべき適切な質問を整理することである。
本書はUp-to-dateな経営手法を含めて幅広い範囲をcoverしていることから、MBAの学生用の教科書としても利用出来るが、実務者としても自ら携わっているビジネスや業界のことを念頭において、何処が当てはまるかを考えながら読み進むことをお奨めする。

２００ページ程度の本ですが、すごいボリュームが詰め込まれていた印象です。かなり厚い本を読んだ気分です。

この本で、新しい戦略についての紹介する、というスタンスではなく、今までに登場した戦略についての考え方や見方、ツールを体系立てて説明してある本です。「外部環境の分析」「内部資源の分析・活用」「事業戦略」「全社戦略」などに分け、それぞれのステップで使われる分析ツール（ポーターの各種モデル、シナリオ分析・・・）、戦略（ＸＸＸ戦略）、考え方（ＲＢＶ・・・）、実現手法（Ｍ＆Ａ、連携・・・）等を、最新のものまで（？）網羅的に紹介してあります。その内容と、実際にどうなの、課題なども書いてあります。

読むのに、特に前提知識が必要な本とは、思いませんでしたが、あんまり知識がないためか、頭が「うに」みたいになりました。ある程度知っていれば、頭の中が体系的にまとまるのだろうなぁ、という印象です。
手元に置いて、時間をおいてから（修行して？）、もう一度チャレンジしたい本でした。
