長らく停滞期が続いた我が国の経済は上昇局面に転じており、中長期的には歴史的好景気の時代へと突き進むであろうと論じる書。著者は、三菱UFJリサーチ&コンサルティング投資調査部長兼主席研究員であり、景気循環論研究の第一人者として政府のアドバイザーも務めている。著者は経済が好景気へと向かう周期のパターンを「ゴールデン・サイクル(黄金循環)」と名づけ、我が国がこれまでに経験した好景気の研究に加え、設備投資や生産性、産業構造の変革といったデータを示しながら、そのメカニズムを解き明かしていく。

景気循環には短期(3~4年)・中期(約10年)・長期(約20年)・超長期(約55年)の4つの波動があり、複数の波動の底が重なると1990年代の「失われた10年」のような不景気を招くと解説。逆にこれらの波動がすべて上昇波に入る時代こそが「ゴールデン・サイクル」であり、今年がその始まりだと説く。製造業における生産拠点の加速度的な国外移転にはブレーキがかかり、工場建設は国内に向かうと読む。それらを根拠に著者が予測する発展事業を示す。例えば、生活者の立場に立った「都市の景観、環境、観光、高齢化」という「4つのK(それぞれの頭文字)」に注目せよと提案する。

平成4年頃、会計事務所に勤務していたときの所長が大好きだった嶋中さんの本。

内容は、キチンサイクル、ジュグラーサイクル、クズネッツサイクル、コンドラチェフサイクルの４つの波が一度に上昇に転ずる「ゴールデンサイクル」の時代に日本が入っている、というもの。

以上！！ですね。

後書きに、この本の構想は2003年末にできあがっていた・・・と書かれていましたが、なら、景気が悪い悪いと言われていたその頃に出しておけばよかったのに・・・何故、今になって、と言われても仕方が無いでしょう。

しかし、「日本経済再生の鍵を握る４Ｋ」と目次にあったので、期待していたのだが・・・、そのあまりに凡庸さに絶句してしまいました。

経済学部の学生さんの入門書としては最適ですが、最前線で戦っている経営者が読む本ではありません。

・景気サイクルの種類（キッチン、ジュグラー、クズネッツ、コンドラチェフ）や、景気の山・谷の見方の入門・復習として役立つ。
・（P.67）「景気指数による予測」の限界（足元で大きな構造変化が進行している場合）も述べられている。
・実際にそうなるかどうかは別として、今後のコンドラチェフの波を引き起こす要因として考えうるもの（IT、多目的介護ロボットなど）が列挙されている（P.77）。また、過去の技術革新の一覧表、都内の主な大規模開発計画などの表もあって、経済関連の研究員や企業の企画部門にいる人などの参考資料として有用と思われる。
・結論としては、私は嶋中氏の公共投資についての考え方などに違和感があるが（地方の景況感が悪いのは公共投資削減が主因、との分析自体は賛成）、本書には使える材料が豊富にあり、読むに値したと思った。

今後の日本はゴールデンサイクル、短期と長期のすべての景気循環が上方に向かう「黄金の時代」を迎えるのだ、という主張が統計データを多数交えながら延々と述べられている。
惜しむらくは、本来そのような「夢のある」内容であれば、夢を感じさせる読後感を得たいものなのだが、それが得られない。
とはいえ、「理論派」には説得力ある内容であるのは、否定できないだろう。
