2003年12月に刊行された『逆面接』の新版。

今回の最大の特徴は「逆面接」を実際に採用の現場で用いている企業の人事担当者の座談会を収録していること。

この座談会によって、適切な使用方法に従うなら、「逆面接」という手法によって受検者の質問力を知りうるだけでなく、理解能力や志望度までも測ることが可能であることが示されている。同時に、面接官の訓練の必要性や、事務担当者の負担が増える可能性も指摘されており、実用的な側面からの有用な見解が提示されている。

確かに、「逆面接」という手法は人的、物的資源の動員力を備えた企業でなければ実践できないかもしれない。しかし、今までの面接の仕方に満足できない、疑問を抱いている、あるいは新しい面接法を開拓したい、という意欲があるなら、本書は一読するに値しよう。

面接という観点から人間の本質の一端にも深く切り込んでいる本書は、その意味で、「人事担当者」や「これから面接を受ける学生」ばかりでなく、「人間の行動のあり方」に興味をもつ人に薦めたい。

現在の面接手法である単純面接、コンピテンシー面接のメリット・デメリット、そして逆面接の効果が非常に分かりやすく記載されていて読みやすかった。実際に逆面接をやってみたらおもしろいだろうなとも思った。最後についていたチェックリストは自分が面接する立場になったときに参考にしたい。

面接官側に逆面接を説明するために書かれている。でも、学生や面接に臨む側にも役に立つと思う。面接官の座談会などは興味深く読むことができるし、どこを見ているのかなど、参考になることも多い。

今後採用面接を進めていく上で面接官にはどのような質問でどのような適性を判断するか、また被面接者はどのようなポイントが見られているのかを知ることができるだろう。

すべての場合で有効とは限らないが、ある程度の面接対策にはなる。また自分の応募している行に対してどれほど興味を持っているのか、理解しているのかを図る上でも逆面接をシミュレートするための参考書にもなるだろう。
