”感情表現集”といった本です。
およそ国語辞典などで想像する辞典にはなっていません。
もちろん掲載された内容はあらゆる著名な作者のすばらしい感情表現の数々ですが、目的の言葉を探しづらいと感じました。
・文芸書のようなハードカバーのためにページがめくりづらい。
・本の側面に辞書のような五十音のインデックス印刷はなく、
　目次と索引によって目的のページを探します。
・漢字は基本的にフリガナがありません。
・ページは上下２段というレイアウトで構成されています。

探す「表現」を「喜・怒・哀・怖・恥・好・厭・昂・安・驚」に分け、近現代の作家１９７人の作品８０６編の「文章（用例）」から、いちばんぴったりする表現を選び出す辞典。末尾に各作家の出典一覧と感情を表現する「単語」が掲載されています。
事務以外の文章を書くときに感情表現について役に立つ本。

日本語の表現はこんなに豊かなんだぞ！と思うと同時に、感情表現って難しいなあ、と「読後」思いました。これは引く辞典というよりは読む辞典という印象です。
近現代作家の収録ページを開くと、全然知らない人の名が・・・作家も作品も栄枯盛衰だなあ。

197人の著名な作家の作品、全806点から
人間の感情について書かれた記述を取り上げて
10種（喜・怒・哀・怖・恥・好・厭・昂・安・驚）に分類。
ズラッと収録したものです。
これが、読み物としてなかなかおもしろいんですよ。
言い換える言葉をさがすだけなら、
そりゃあ、類語辞典の方がはるかに使いやすいですよ。
でも、言葉の使い方をより深く追求するなら、だんぜんコチラ。
同じ「好き」でも、
「息が詰まるほど好きになる」（新美南吉）　と
「好きながら熱情となって燃え立たない」（志賀直哉）　とでは
意味するところが180度違いますからねえ。
