大学の講義などで経済学に触れることになる多くの人が現実と数式との間に違和感を覚えるが、そうしたギャップを見事に埋めてくれる存在が本書である。「なぜこのように考えるのか？」という感覚的な部分を大切にしながらも、偏微分やラグランジュ関数などを用いて理論的かつ体系的に説明がなされており、非常に満足のいくものである。しかも、こうした数学的知識を注釈によってすべて補足しており、そうした知識がなくても読み進められることも読者としてはありがたいところである。多くの参考書が、厳密さを欠く内容や、あるいは数式を羅列しすぎることのどちらかに傾倒していることを考えれば、一冊で大学院入試にまで対応できる本書は質・量ともに良書であるといえる。また、経済学全般に関する記述も読み物として楽しむことができ、充実した内容である。

めちゃくちゃお勧め！「東大経済学部大学院の近経コースは1割くらいがこの先生の教え子」と知り合いから聞き、生協で平積みされていたのでどんなもんかと買ってみたが、衝撃的なくらいわかりやすい。かといってレベルが低いわけではなく、レベルはチャンの「現代経済学の数学基礎」と同じくらい。東大院試や国家公務員試験一種には十分。形式としては武隈の「演習ミクロ」（自分は院試でこれのお世話になった）のように問題を解いてその解説が書かれているが、解説が口語体で面白く（正直教科書で面白いと思ったのははじめて）、頭にサクサク入ってくる。このサクサク感が本当に衝撃だった。数学的説明もこれ以上ないくらい丁寧でわかりやすく、痒いところに手が届いている。読んでみて、他のミクロの教科書はいかに読者に不親切なものが多いかを痛感する。自分が読んできたミクロ教科書の中ではこれが一番。

　私は今までに経済学を全くふれたことがなかった。しかし個人的な事情で経済学を勉強しなければならないこととなった、そこでとりあえず学部レベルの経済学の知識をつけようと思い、この本を購入したわけだが、中身がちょっとしたストーリー風になっていてとても読みやすかった。
　また個人的には、各問題の計算の流れを丁寧に示してくれるところが大変ありがたがった。この一冊あれば、十分のような気がする。
