かなり前作よりは怖い作品が多かったです。
それと新しい試みとして、ホラーとミステリーの
融合、なんていうのもありますし。


怖いなと感じたのはやはり
｢人間｣が絡んでいるものかな。
人間の執念とか、嫉妬とか。
本当その作品に関しては最後に関しても
救われなく、非常に恐ろしいものがあります。


最後に、これを読んで、
眠れなくならぬよう…

ホラーの第三黄金時代を築くという壮大な目的をもったアンソロジー第２巻。『妖女たち』よりはわかりやすい。が怖くないホラーは相変わらず・・・

面白いのは、ナンシー・Ａ・コリンズ「ナマズ娘のブルース」、エドワード・リー「ＩＣＵ」（次点は、エド・ゴーマン「アンジー」）。ディヴィッド・マレル「リオ・グランデ・ゴシック」は、１００頁の中篇だが、ホラーという感じが全くしない。

■「ナマズ娘のブルース」
ギターと歌の名手だが、うだつが上がらないホップ。ミシシッピ川の桟橋で、歌をうたっていると、川からナマズ娘があらわれた。歌をうたうと、ナマズ娘が金塊を持ってくるようなる　・・・ ラストが傑作！

■「ＩＣＵ」
病院で目覚めたフランキーは、片手、片足を失っていた。警官との銃撃戦で、負傷したのだ。命びろいした幸運を喜ぶフランキーだったが　・・・
