ガラスのショーから持ちかけられた黄金地球儀強奪に平々凡々と暮らしていた平沼平介が挑むという物語である。数々の困難があるが、どうやって困難を切り抜けて、黄金地球儀強奪を実行するのか。

平介とガラスのジョーの掛け合いは互いにずれてて面白いなあとは思う。最後は、中途半端な終わり方でなくスカッとしたような終わり方なのは良かったように思う。ガラスのショーの存在が何者かということに注目して読んでいくといいかなと思います。

うーん。海堂尊氏には、医学小説だけを書いてほしいかなと思います。本書は、ちょっと稚拙なような気がする。小説としても、ミステリー小説としても中途半端かなと思います。

07年10月の単行本の文庫化．ノンシリーズですが他作とのリンクも含まれた作品です．

物語は三部構成となっており，各部をさらにいくつかの章にわけて進んでいきます．
ただ事の起こりから結末，後日談を含めた真実までをキレイに分けて描かれるものの，
都合の良すぎる展開やおかしな行動など，ドタバタ劇にしても首を捻る場面がいくつか．
プロローグから第一部までは期待も膨らむのですが，その後は尻すぼみ…という印象です．

また，章の冒頭には日時が記されているのですがこれが物語の方にはあまり生きておらず，
時間が入り組むような展開だったり，タイムリミットに追われる緊張はほとんどありません．
お役所批判の込められたエピローグもありきたりで，一気の『種明かし』もいささか蛇足気味．

ある意味予定調和的な物語なのですから，最後まで賑やかなまま読ませて欲しかったです．

内容から言うと「クライム小説」と言うことになるのでしょうか？

降って湧いたようにとんでもない不平等な契約書が出てきて、非常なピンチに陥ってしまった主人公平介ですが、旧友の＜ガラスのジョー＞とアイの力を借りて、黄金地球儀の強奪作戦を遂行します。
ところが、予想外の出来事の頻発に、一層の窮地に陥って行きます。
果たして結果は如何に？と言う話なのですが、奇想天外なストーリー展開と、奇妙なキャラクターの集まりに笑ってしまいます。
最後の大団円で明かされる真相に、主人公ならずともあっけに取られてしまいます。

市の公務員が、民間の中小企業に財政危機の責任を押し付ける話で、読む側はやっていることは違法なのですが、主人公に肩入れしたくなります。
と同時に、主人公たちの頓珍漢な行動ぶりに、怒りよりも同情を禁じ得ません。

読んでいて、そんな馬鹿なと思いながらも、止めずにはいられない、そんな楽しくもおかしな話です。
