友人に勧められ、初めて読んだ伊坂幸太郎作品。

この作品は、「２年前」と「現在」の２つの時間軸によって描かれています。
そのうち過去が現在に追いついて、時間軸が交わり、一本に統一されるのかと思いきや、ずっと「２年前」と「現在」の時間軸は平行したまま物語は進んでいきます。
最後まで読まないと、過去と現在の繋がりが見えてこないので、先が気になり、一気に読んでしまいました。
「２年前」の物語の登場人物と、「現在」の物語の登場人物は、共通している人もいれば、いなくなってしまった人も・・・。
その、過去と現在の繋がり＝「２年前」の物語の登場人物が「現在」の物語でどう存在しているか、ということが、この作品のミステリーの核となっている部分であり、オチというわけです。

過去と現在がどう繋がっているのか察知させない、先の見えない謎めいた描き方は、物語の構成に面白さを感じさせてくれました。

ただ、私はこの作品を読みながら、ずっと違和感を感じていました。
というのは、ミステリー要素や構成力は別として、登場人物に全く感情移入ができず、そういった意味で作品を楽しむことができなかったからです。
「２年前」と「現在」に登場する人物の、そのほとんどが、あまりキャラが確立されてはおらず、ただ台詞が並べられているだけのような、上っ面しか見えないようなもどかしさがありました。
唯一特徴的なキャラである「麗子さん」も、彼女の言動に逐一、無表情だとか、無感情だとかという一言が添えられていて、彼女の描き方がわざとらしすぎて、上滑りな印象を受けました。
どのキャラクターにも現実味が感じられず、感情移入できないために、引き込まれるような面白さが足りなかったように思います。

とはいえ、構成自体は十分楽しめると思いますので、ミステリー好きの方には良い作品かもしれません。

動物虐待、性病、復讐などの重苦しい話で、後味が悪すぎる。
読み終わったあと凄くモヤモヤとした気持ちが残る。

動物虐待とかの話は苦手なんで、読んでいて辛かった。
ラスト付近で明らかになる真相には驚かされましたが、いいところはそれだけ。
なによりも、あの時点で警察に知らせないっていうのが信じられない。
あまりにも不可解で、一気に萎えてしまいます。

文体はもろに村上春樹。
いろいろな所で村上春樹の影響が伺えます

面白い着想の本だし、過去の登場人物と絡ませてくる、話の構成とかはよく出来ていると思います。
でも、このお話はちょっと退屈で、段々重苦しくなって読後感も余りよくなかったです。
同じく不思議系の登場人物な「重力ピエロ」は好きなんですけど。

伊坂さんの本をこれから読もうと思われる方は、まず「チルドレン」「死神の精度」の方を
お勧めします。この本で挫折したとしたら、勿体無いですから！
