ミステリーはミステリーだけど、
殺人などを扱っていないためか、比較的気分よく読める。
まぁ、語り手である坂木と探偵役の鳥井。
引きこもりになってしまった鳥井を何とか外に出そうとする坂木。
しかし、外に出して事件に遭遇し、その事件に関わった人と接することで
少しずつ外界と触れることになる鳥井に対して複雑な心境の坂木。
この二人を中心に話しは展開していきますが、
この二人の関係が微妙っちゃ〜微妙で。

話自体は日常のミステリーの類なので、
読んでいて肩も凝らないし、
読みやすいとは思う。
連作短編集になっているが、
途中出てくる事件の中心人物たちも、その後も顔を出しているし、
その点では良かったかな。

優しさの押し売り的な話もあるけれど、
でも優しさだけじゃダメなんだよね、とも気付かされる話が多くて
好印象でした。

全体的に、今一歩な作品です。
まず、ミステリ小説とは考えないで読むことをおすすめします。
トリックというトリックもないし、人間関係、家族関係を
主眼と捉えることで、読みどころが見えてくるように思います。

読後の感想としては、鳥井と坂木の関係性は決して嫌いではない、
むしろ愛情のある心地いいものとして見られるのですが、鳥井と
鳥井の母の具体的なエピソードを読むまでは、坂木の感情の揺れに
対する鳥井のあまりの変貌ぶりに正直、笑ってしまうことも
ありました。
鳥井の母子関係のエピソードが一話目に出てきて、だから鳥井は
こんなに坂木の感情にシンクロしてしまうんだな、と分かった上
で読み進めていたら、もうちょっと感じ方は違っていたと思います。
そこが残念。

しかし、鳥井のキャラクター、私は好きです。
せっかく続編も文庫になっていますし、これを理由にこちらも
読むだけ読んでみようと思います。

母親に捨てられたことがトラウマとなり、ひきこもりを続ける鳥井。彼がただ一人の心を開く友人である坂木。二人が出会うちょっとした事件を通じて、友情、夫婦愛、家族愛を描いていく。

優しい包み込むような文体。そして、登場人物達がみんなあたたかい。沢木と鳥井、二人を中心にやさしさに満ちた愛情の輪がすこしづつ拡がっていく。

ミステリーではあるが、謎解きは余興のようなもの。人を思いやり、幸せを願う心を描くことこそ坂木さんの主題であろう。

何かと世知辛い現代だからこそ、人間のやさしさや人を思いやる気持ちを力強く肯定し、僕たち読者に前向きな力を与えてくれる本作に、僕は純粋に感動しました。殺伐とした世間に疲れたときの一服の清涼剤。やさしさの補給にどうぞ。
