シリーズ第１作の「ミミズクとオリーブ」もそうでしたが、
でてくる食べ物がおいしそうでおいしそうで・・・。
謎解き自体は、そんなにむずかしいものではないのですが、
作品全体に流れる暖かい感じは貴重だと思います。

主人公の作家（作者をチョッと投影してる？）と名探偵の奥さんの
やりとりもほほえましいです。

書籍のタイトルに使われた最終話も、読んでみれば「ふ~ん」って感じですが、本作はシリーズ前作の『ミミズクとオリーブ』よりミステリとしての謎解きが理に適っているように思いました。犯人の目星は読者もすぐにつくであろうだけに一緒に安楽椅子探偵を気取るのもよし、かも？。故郷の美味いもの登場のシーンも楽しみ。美味いものといえば池波正太郎氏ですが、ここでは知らない人が聞いたら「え？」と思うようなものも故郷の味として登場するのがいいところ。

ただ、よくシリーズものにありがちな、各章毎にいちいち人間関係を説明する面倒くさい手順のないところ、私は好きですが、だからこそ『ミミズクとオリーブ』から読んだ方がより登場人物の個性を楽しむことができると思います。それから、解説は普通の文章で書いて欲しかった、です。

　1998年に文藝春秋から出た単行本の文庫化。
　第一作『ミミズクとオリーブ』よりも、ミステリの側面の比重が大きくなっている。しかし、逆に作品の魅力を奪ってしまったような気がする。このシリーズの面白さは、登場人物の愛らしさ、かけあいの妙、食べ物の３点にあると思う。ところが、ミステリに傾斜することで、主人公たる奥さんの魅力が削られてしまったのだ。単なる推理機械へと変貌してしまっている。
　ミステリとは難しいものだと思う。
　喜国雅彦の解説が読みにくい。
