5.0 out of 5 stars ミステリー仕立てなのに何度でも味わえる, 2006/9/9
人によって違うとは思うけど、ミステリー仕立ての文庫本で何回も再読できる本と出会えるのは、そんなに度々はないと思う。この本、２年前の夏に出てから、季節が変わるごとにもう１０回近く読んだ。私にとって「もう秋だなあ」とか「だんだん冬も終わっていくんだなあ」という感じの一冊になってしまったみたい。それはこのミステリーに季節感が豊かだからというわけではない。（もちろん舞台になっているアメリカの海沿いの町やヨーロッパの季節感は巧みに書かれているのだけど）私は主人公の「心の季節」の変遷みたいなものを、読むたびごとに新しく味わっている。ミステリー仕立てだから、主人公のストーカーは一度読んでわかっているのだけど、それよりも小説の中で率直すぎるくらいに語られるひとりの女性の１０代後半から３０代後半までの「経験と心理」に、深く共感したりちょっと反発したりしてしまう。それが読むたびに違うのが不思議。読者も成長するってこと？翻訳はとてもこなれていて読みやすい。この作者、キュッセさんって４０歳くらいのフランス女性でアメリカの大学で教えてるっていうインテリらしいけど、他にもたくさん小説を書いているみたい。他の作品、どなたか訳してくれませんか？もっと読みたい！！！

主人公の女性に、自分しか知らない過去の男性遍歴が送りつけられてくるという、怖いお話。犯人捜しもスリリングだったけど、送られてきた分厚い手紙で語られるエピソードや、主人公の心理描写に共感。誰だって、お墓まで持って行きたい事は、良いことも悪いことも含めたくさん有るけど、それを誰かがみんな知っている。怖いけど、最後には逆に、誰か自分を本当に理解してくれる人がいたら、なんて気にさせる。
うまいストーリー展開。この作者の人って、主人公に近いインテリ女性らしいけど、フランス人ってさすが心理描写が得意なのね、とフランス映画好きの私は思った。訳はすごく読みやすかった。
