　この本は、桜庭一樹さんが東京創元社のWebミステリーズ！というところで連載していた『続・桜庭一樹読書日記』の収録本で、その頃読んでいた本、それについて思ったことやあらすじ、編集さんとのやりとりなんかが書かれていて、とっても面白い！そして、これを読んでいるととにかく読書がしたくなる。という本。
　現在は『続々・桜庭一樹 読書日記』を連載中。

　私は前の『桜庭一樹 読書日記』を読みながら、脚注をペラペラして気になった本があったらそれを買って読む…ということをわりとしています。今回も、気になった本が結構あったので、付箋貼っとけばよかったなぁと後悔しました(前回もしたなぁ)。

シリーズ2作目，出版社のサイトでの連載（07年04月-08年03月）をまとめたものです．

ちょうど，直木賞や日本推理協会賞を受賞した時期のものも収録されているため，
まさに当事者のみが知っている，そのときの心境や裏側なども読むことができます．
特に，落選と受賞を経験する直木賞のあたりは興味深く，重たい雰囲気はないものの，
重賞を経て，著者が漏らしているいくつかの思いには，ずっしりと響くものを感じます．

とはいうものの，それ以外は『読書日記』のとおり，数多くの本と著者の日常が書かれ，
いろいろな人たちと本のことを話す様子などは，本当に楽しそうでうらやましくなります．

時折，前作を参照させるエピソードが出てきますが，基本的には『日記』ですから，
それらに目をとおしていなくても，まったく問題なく楽しむことができると思います．
著者のファンだけでなく，読者好き，書店好きの人にもぜひ手にとってほしい1冊です．

なお，日記以外では著者と出版社の人たちとの『特別座談会』が収録されています．
ただ，ここでも話しているのはやっぱり本のことで，やっぱりみなさん楽しそうです．

「桜庭一樹読書日記―少年になり、本を買うのだ。」の続刊。２００７年３月からの１年間、出版社のＨＰでの連載をまとめた本です。（巻末に編集者との座談会が追加されている。）ちょうど「赤朽葉家の伝説」が出版されて推理作家協会賞を受賞し、「私の男」を出版して「直木賞」を受賞するという怒濤の日々の記録にもなっています。

前作同様に本無しには生きられない？桜庭一樹と編集者たちの「ディープ」な日々が綴られるが、私が読んだ事のある本はちょっとしか出てこないし、「通」の間でしか分からないような表現も多くて・・・うらやましい。

とりあげられるのは翻訳物の小説、特に推理小説 やＳＦが多く、何となく桜庭一樹のバックボーンが見えてきます。日本の古典？は余り縁が無いみたいで、「漱石」 あたりでも読むには努力？が必要らしい・・・。

漂う雰囲気は「マニアック！」ですし、いつものように、編集者たちとの交流の様子はほとんど「漫才」のノリですが、さすがに受賞絡みの話題は興味深い。記者会見やＴＶ出演。長期取材のＴＶカメラが張り付いていたり、田舎から和服の「葛籠（つづら）」が届いたり。編集者の気配りに、家族の戸惑い、何より本人のアタフタ振りが微笑ましい。（笑）

そして驚くのは、そんな大変な日々なのに、必ず本を読んでから「寝る」のだ！

最新作「ファミリーポートレイト」の後半で描かれる「文芸サロン」？や作家達の暮らしぶり等の「ネタ」？も満載で、単なる「読書日記」以上に楽しめる「面白読書日記」になっています。
