出版社のWebサイトで連載されていたものをまとめた1冊です．

書評というよりは，文字どおり本のある生活をつづった日記で，
特に，書店を巡って本を買ったり，家族や知人と話をする様子は，
著者の読書好きが伝わってきて，読んでいるほうも気持ちいいです．

ほかにも，作家として心身を削る姿は，月並みながら感心しますし，
なにげに語られている読書感は，思わず手を止めて考えてしまいます．

また，名前のあがった作品が，すべて書影つきで紹介されているのは便利．
こまかいところも同じ様に補足があり，ささいなことなのですが好印象です．
ただ，ページをまたぐとわかりづらく，番号があればなおよかったのですが…．

とはいえ，普段は書く側の作家が，どのように本を選び，読んでいるのか，
飾り気のない文章も読みやすいですし，ファンでなくても楽しめる1冊です．

　著者の読書生活が書かれている本。
　「日記」と言うとおり、２００６年１月〜２００７年１月までの期間の著者の読書生活。
　読んだ本が、一冊ずつ書評されているというのではなく、“本との生活”という感じ。Ｗｅｂミステリーズで発表されていただけに、出てくる本にミステリー系が多いのが、特徴。
　読書の本や書評記としては、そこに挙げられている本が、どれだけ読みたくなるかが大事であると思うが、この本はその点、良かった。
　私自身は、桜庭一樹の小説を読んだ事が無く、ミステリー好きという程でもないのだが、それでも面白く読めたのは、著者が好きなものを語るのを読む心地良さだと思う。
　著者の本も含めて、ここに紹介されている本が読みたくなった。

いまや、第138回直木賞の受賞作家たる著者が、
2006年３月から1年間、東京創元社のＨＰで
月間連載していた日記を収録したもの。


新宿と生れ故郷である鳥取を往還しながら、
「もりもり」食べ、空手で汗を流し、そして
本を読んで、読んで、それでもまた読む日常を綴った日記。
（もちろん、忘れず執筆もやられてます。）

本当に呼吸をするように本を読んでいる様は、
「読書家」という人種は、この域に達した人の
謂いなのだと理解できました。

　お笑いでは、千原兄弟が好き、という所に妙に納得。
