とても賢い猫のニフィが若き領主を助けて活躍するお話。
さっぱりしてさらっと読めるファンタジーです。
そしてとても楽しい。
悪い王妃に政略結婚。そして暗殺とけっこうどろどろしているようなのですが、実際登場人物にあまり悩んでいる人がいなくて、物語はあくまで明るく進行していきます。

猫好きな人にはたまらないだろうし、そうでない人も猫を見直すかも（？）。
ちょっとなごめる１冊です。

”歌う船”は奇抜な発想のSF小説でしたが、”だれも猫には気づかない”は子供のベットタイムストーリーに良さそうな、とある王国を舞台にした善悪がはっきりしている童話に近いファンタジーです。陰の摂政の猫が大活躍するので猫好きにはたまらないと思います。SF作家というイメージが強いマキャフリーにいは異色の作品だと思います。他に猫が重要な役割を果たす作品を捜している人はジズー・コーダーの”ライオンボーイ”がおすすめです。

　中世を舞台にしていて、かっこいい王子様ときれいなお姫様が出てきて。。。と、ありふれた設定なのですけれど、登場人物が魅力的に描かれているからでしょうか、楽しんで読めました。ハッピーエンドだからこそ、安心・満足して読めますしね。

　誰もねこに気がつかないどころか、猫は大活躍でしたよ。別に猫好きではなかったですが、この本を読んで猫に好感を持つようになったかも。ニフィはかわいいなーと思いました。

　半日程度であっという間に読み終えてしまう厚さなのに、ちょっとしたドキドキ感もあって、お勧めです。読み終えても、また読み返したくなります。
