前作に引き続き今作も非常に面白かったです。結構分厚いですが、引き込まれてあっという間に読み終えてしまいます。最後の一行まで、きちんと笑わせてくれました。(実際に読むと言っている意味が分かると思います)ただ、少し残念なのが今回は主人公と助手の絡みがちょっと少なかった事です。前作は助手とのやりとりが非常に楽しかったので、もっと登場させてあげてもいいような気がしました。

待ってましたというか、帰ってきました、『ハードボイルド・エッグ』のあの名探偵が！
しかも今度の秘書は、期待通りの１６歳だが、もちろん訳有り。
フィリップ・マーロウを気取って、気障なセリフを口にしたりする私立探偵の最上俊平だが、彼の元に舞い込む依頼は相変わらずのペット捜しばかり。
新たに雇った秘書と二件の猫探しを同時に行う事になるが・・・。
エンターテイメントとしてもユーモア小説としても文句無し。
それでいて、ホロッとさせるシーンも用意されて、至れり尽せりの小説です。

いつか続編が出ないかなと思っていた作品の一つで、期待通りでした。
あ〜続編が待ち遠しい！

あの最上俊平が帰って来ました！いや帰ってきたのは名探偵ばかりではありません。荻原先生もユーモア小説に帰ってきました。ここ最近はシリアスなものばかりで、それはそれで楽しめたのですが、やっぱり荻原先生はユーモア小説が似合っています。しかも今度は伝家の宝刀を抜いたかのごとく以前より更に増した切れ味をもったユーモアでいっぱい笑わせてもらいました。
今回もハードボイルドに傾倒する主人公の実像とのギャップが笑いを誘いましたが、こういう生き方っていいですね。プロフェッショナル意識にもとづく少しの誠実さと、タフな状況でもへらず口を止めない機知。やっぱり男はこうでなくちゃ。『強くなければ生きていけない。優しくなければ生きていく資格がない』言葉通りではないけど気持ちは地を行っている主人公がかっこ良かったです。
ちなみに続編のタイトルは『スクランブルエッグ』で、『ハードボイルドエッグ』はドラマ化されるそうです。楽しみです。
