バリ島を何度も訪れたくなる理由に、笑顔のホスピタリティ、そして何故かホッとするホテルのシンプルで洗練されたインテリア・デザインが挙げられます。著者が椅子・テーブルなどの家具、ファブリック、籠、陶器等に魅せられ、試行錯誤しながらオーダーし持ち帰る様に、同じバリファンとして大変共感を覚えました。Photoやイラストが多いので読みやすく、バリの最近の雰囲気がとてもよくわかります。巻末のショップ・リストが便利！宿・食・雑貨・家具の4部構成。

斎藤木綿子さんのイラストが大好きで、この本からもバリの空気が漂ってくる気がしました。タバコやフルーツ等のスケッチはもちろん、バリに住んでたからこそ描ける生活感溢れる人物画など、見てるとバリにまた「帰り」たくなっちゃう本の一つです。写真も素敵。

普段はあまりガイドブックどおりの旅はしたくないのだが、この本に関しては別。筆者と同じようにジンバランカフェで食事をし、ジェンガラの食器をアウトレットで調達し、クロボカンで家具を物色してバリ旅行を楽しんだ。バリをおしゃれに楽しみたい、バリの達人になりたいと思っているリピーターにおすすめ。
