はっきり言おう。やはり森茉莉の世界は森茉莉の筆で描かれたものを読者が勝手に想像するに限る！森茉莉の世界（特に料理）を現実的に再現した写真をみて「私の美の世界」が軽く音を立てて崩壊していったのである。いやあ、実は分かっていたのだよ、認めたくなかっただけなのだ。そう、現実とはこんなもの。それをどう解釈するか、どう想像力で補うかなのだ。現実を魔法のような言葉で変身させる森茉莉が好きなんだ。だけどファンならこの本はぜひ見たいよね。それが問題だ。

森茉莉って、こんなさわやかに解釈されて良いものなのかしらん、と疑問に思うのだ。怖いけど、憎たらしいけど覗いてみたい、そんな気持ちはこの本からは起こってこないのだ。彼女を仕上げのスパイスに使うのは、失礼じゃないのかしら。彼女は骨の髄だと思うんだけどなあ。

ちょっとおしゃれに仕上がりすぎて、近頃のスローライフに乗っかった感じがしてしまうけれど、彼女の人柄から作品に向かっていく入り口としては楽しい。

私物などの写真は貴重で美しく、著者の文章も茉莉ファンにありがちな自分語りが抑えられてて好感がもてます。
再現料理も、少々プロ臭すぎ、美しすぎるところをのぞけばほぼ満足。
ただ一つ、茉莉の料理文章の原点、象徴ともいえる、茉莉ファンにはもっともチェックの厳しいであろうある料理の調理法に（ファンなら）すぐわかる大きな間違いがあって、これだけはちょっと残念なものがありました。
