　ただジョンの絵を見ているだけでも楽しい。印刷の色使いもGood!
1965年刊行の本（原題"A Spaniard in the works"）がようやく日本語版に。
1975年に日本語版が出た「絵本ジョン・レノンセンス」に続く２冊目のナンセンス短編集とのことですが、
文章は「絵本~」にも似て、シャレや風刺やパロディ連射のクラクラするような飛び具合。

　原文も全て掲載されていて、訳者解説ではオリジナル版の表紙（このジョン、カッコイイ！）も紹介されています。
また、この本を刊行するにあたってのジョンへのインタビュー（1965年6月）が掲載されているWebページのURLなども紹介されていて、早速読みに行ってみました。

　私はジョンのファンとしてごく初心者なので、この本の本当の価値を理解しているとは言えないと思います。
ただ、この本の中の一編「アン・ダフィールド嬢のけっ大な経験」がシャーロック・ホームズのメロディになっている点には特に興味が沸きました。
ホームズ・シリーズの、とある短編と冒頭がそっくり。ジョンもコレを読んだのね、なんて少し親近感が沸いたり。
コナン・ドイルとジョンの幼少期の不幸な境遇はちょっと似ているらしいのですが、その辺、ジョンは知っていたのだろうか…とも、ふと想像したりしました。

　ちょっと変わったモノが好きな友人達にプレゼントしてみたくなる一冊です。
勿論、私自身にとってもジョンからの時を超えたヘンテコなプレゼントに思えます。

どこかの書評に,天才の作品を,天才が訳したと書いてあったが,そういわざるを,得ない。私,彼は,本質的には,詩人だったとおもいます。

~「らりるれレノン」という日本語題もことば遊び的で面白いが、原題の「A Spaniard in the~~ works」はさらに音の響きが滑らかである。私は英語は得意ではないので、その意味するところはよく分からない（直訳すると『仕事中のスペイン人』？）。正しい発音もおぼつかない。しかし、その良さは何となく分かる。「ロックンロールの詩人」と呼ばれたシンガーソングライターである彼にとって、言葉を音に乗せるのはお手の物である。日本の歌に比べて、韻を~~踏むという制約があるぶん、鍛えられているのだ。彼の曲「ルーシー・イン・ザ・スカイ・ウィズ・ダイアモンズ」なども、音として面白い。「ア・スパニアード・イン・ザ・ワークス」、ぜひ声に出して言ってみてほしい。~
