本書を読んでの感想は，第一に，やはりシュタイナー自身が書いたものを読まないとダメだということ．

ラヒマ・ボールドウィン著「親だからできる赤ちゃんからのシュタイナー教育―子どもの魂の、夢見るような深みから」や，松井るり子著「幸せな子ども―可愛がるほどいい子になる育て方」，「七歳までは夢の中―親だからできる幼児期のシュタイナー教育」や，京田辺シュタイナー学校の「小学生と思春期のためのシュタイナー教育―7歳から18歳、12年間一貫教育」など，いずれも素晴らしい本だと思う．でも，こんな教育の仕方もありますよ，ということではなく，その底流にある考え方を正確に知るには，シュタイナー自身の著作を読むのが一番だ．

本書は，シュタイナー自身の手による教育の入門書である．「霊学の観点からの子どもの教育」に始まり，「人知学的な教育の特質」，「感覚の教育」，「教育と芸術」，「教育と道徳」，「教育のためのお祈り」と続く．その後に，訳者である高橋氏による解説「生きる意志と子どもの教育」がある．いずれも非常に示唆に富む内容で，教育者はもちろん，子供を持つ親には是非一読を勧めたい．

ただ，「霊学の・・・」とあるように，スピリチュアル（霊的）な部分を大切に考えるシュタイナーの思想なので，前述のようなシュタイナー教育の本を読んだ上で，その教育観に共感できたら読むといいのかもしれない．

海外の思想家が日本に紹介されるとき、誰を通じて、いつの時機に行われるかは、極めて重要な問題だと思われる。今、この時期、高橋巖氏によるシュタイナー・コレクションの発刊は、双方の意味において、我々読者にとって幸いな出来事であろう。高橋氏がいなければ、日本でのシュタイナー像は極めていびつなものになっていたに違いない。本書は小品ながらシュタイナーの教育理論の本質を理解する堅固な糸口になっている。訳文は、詩情にあふれた名訳である。隔月にこのコレクションを読み解くのは至上の楽しみだ。

シュタイナーの名を冠した育児関連の本が沢山でている。
それらの本に感銘を受けたならば、このシリーズを原点に戻るのが良い。

訳者、編集、装丁ともに申し分なく、読み込むのに最適である。
