「私の名はゴア。地球の征服者だ」という番組冒頭の決まり文句が印象的だった『マグマ大使』。40年前にはドキドキしながら聴いていたものだが、近頃は特撮ヒーロー物やアニメの世界でも「世界征服」なんて言葉はさっぱり使われなくなった。つまり、リアリティーがないってことだね。
今時「世界征服」なんて言ってもギャグにしか聞こえないもんな。
本書は「世界征服」という概念が何故リアルでなくなったのか、論理的かつユーモラスに弁じたてた誠に見事な作品だ。ありそうでなかった視点だよなあ。新書なので、数時間くらいで一気に読めるし、結構楽しめてタメにもなる良書。

　マンガ、アニメ、特撮の悪の組織の「世界征服」に関するおそらく世界初の考察。ヤマト、ガンダム、仮面ライダーなどの悪役の世界征服のあり方について類型化し、具体的に世界征服の手順について見ていく。わりと誠実かつ緻密に書かれている。
　そして最後には社会というものを成立せしめているルールや倫理基準、モラルについての考察に至る。現代資本主義社会の持つ矛盾や我々の生き方にもついても考えさせられる。

世界征服を目指す悪の組織の分類から始まって、世界征服を目指すにはどうしなければならないかを分析・検討する。前半はかなり笑える展開だが、現実世界の分析に入るとどんどん引き込まれていく。最終章で「そうくるか！」と膝を打つか「んなわきゃねえだろ」となるかはあなた次第。語り口がうまいのであっという間に読めますが、切り口は鋭い。読んで損はしません。

前半では色々な作品の悪の組織・首領の活躍ぶり？というか間抜けさ加減が引用されていて楽しいが、とくにバビル2世の「ヨミ様すごろく」は秀逸。
