「世界征服」とは、案外割の合わない行為らしい。「目的」を持って「ビジョン」を掲げ、賛同してくれる「人材」を募集し、武器や格闘の「研修教育」を行う傍ら、活動のための「資金」集めに奔走し、それを元手に「兵器」や「秘密基地」を購入・建設する。そしてようやく準備が整い、「計画」を遂行した結果幸い世界を征服できたとしても、実は本当の苦労がそこから始まる。
支配下に置いた者同士の争い事の仲裁、贅沢な暮らしを続けるための産業の振興、部下のモチベーション維持、後継者の育成、あるいは温暖化をはじめ地球規模の問題にどう対策を講じるか等々、今の世界(地球)には支配者が手を下さねばならない問題が山積みだ。支配者だからといってあまりに強圧的手段ばかり取っていると、いつ配下の者に逆ギレされたり寝首をかかれるか分からず、おちおち眠ることもできない。
仮面ライダーも大変だが、ショッカーの首領をやるのも結構しんどいもんだなあと、本書を読んで感じた次第。

「私の名はゴア。地球の征服者だ」という番組冒頭の決まり文句が印象的だった『マグマ大使』。40年前にはドキドキしながら聴いていたものだが、近頃は特撮ヒーロー物やアニメの世界でも「世界征服」なんて言葉はさっぱり使われなくなった。つまり、リアリティーがないってことだね。
今時「世界征服」なんて言ってもギャグにしか聞こえないもんな。
本書は「世界征服」という概念が何故リアルでなくなったのか、論理的かつユーモラスに弁じたてた誠に見事な作品だ。ありそうでなかった視点だよなあ。新書なので、数時間くらいで一気に読めるし、結構楽しめてタメにもなる良書。

　マンガ、アニメ、特撮の悪の組織の「世界征服」に関するおそらく世界初の考察。ヤマト、ガンダム、仮面ライダーなどの悪役の世界征服のあり方について類型化し、具体的に世界征服の手順について見ていく。わりと誠実かつ緻密に書かれている。
　そして最後には社会というものを成立せしめているルールや倫理基準、モラルについての考察に至る。現代資本主義社会の持つ矛盾や我々の生き方にもついても考えさせられる。
