流行の服を着るということは、
過去を捨て、未来のことも考慮に入れず、
まさに現在だけを考えるということ、なるほど納得です。
流行の服を追う事というのは、
今を生きるということでもあるし、刹那的でもあるんですね。
買い物中毒で悩んでいる人は、この本と『モードの迷宮』を読むと、
買い物中毒の自分を客観視して自己分析が出来るようになるので
冷静になれそうです。いい効果があると思う。
でも、買い物に熱狂している間は、この本にさえ気がつかないかもしれませんが。
この本を読むと、社会と服の関係も分かります。毎年の流行を、自分たちで
分析することも出来るようになって楽しいと思いますよ。

　「ファッションはいつも愉しいが、ときどき、それが涙に見えることがある。」（文庫版あとがきより）―こういう言葉をいったいどういう哲学の学者の書物に求めることができるだろうか。ファッションがひそめている人間の身体に関わる悲哀を、若い人々にもわかりやすく説いている点で類を求めがたい、いい本である。著者は同じようなテーマで他にもいくつか本を書いているが、マンネリをかんじさせないところはさすがである。こういう本を書くときでも、引用などから背後にある深い教養がうかがえるのだ。

　以前はプリマーブックスに入っていたものだが、文庫になって、より購入しやすくなった。自分に一番身近にありながら、同時にもっとも遠く感じる身体という「ちぐはぐ」なもの。この本はからだについての自己了解の書でもある。著者は目の前にいる若いカップルに向かって話をしているつもりで書いたと述べている。身体についての悩みを抱えやすい若い人にとくに薦めたい。

著者の鷲田さんは哲学者である。
哲学者がファッションの文章を書くなんていうと、違和感を感じる人もいるかもしれない。
実際、あとがきによると、哲学仲間からも馬鹿に呆れられたというようなエピソードが書いてある。
しかし、「なぜ服を着るのか」をしっかり考えたことある人がいるか。さらに、「なぜその服でなければならないのか」をしっかり考えた人がいるか。あんまりいないと思う。
特にデザイナーに関しては哲学と関連が深いはず。本書でも、山本耀司、川久保玲、三宅一生の考え方にも触れている。
ただ、この本はフッションを取り扱ってはいるが、別にこの服が可愛いだの、あの服がカッコいいだの言っているわけではない。
ファッションを通じて、「じぶん」や「じぶん」の身体について考えている本である。
これを読んでさらに興味が出たなら、これもオススメ。
