著者略歴 (「BOOK著者紹介情報」より)

ブロッホ,ヘルマン
1886‐1951。オーストリアの作家。ユダヤ系の富裕な紡績工場主の長男としてウィーンに生まれる。父の工場を継承、ウィーン文化全盛期の1910‐20年代を財界人として活躍。だが大恐慌(1929)の直前、工場を売却し、40歳を過ぎて作家生活に入る。時あたかもヒトラーの台頭期。その動向を逸早く「典型的な現象」として認識し、「全体小説」論を展開。時代精神に肉薄したその作品では、分析力、構想力の圧倒的な力量を示した

菊盛 英夫
1909‐2001。富山県生まれ。東京大学独逸文学科卒業。中央大学教授、東京大学、慶応義塾大学などの各講師を歴任。ドイツ文学関係の著訳書多数(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

実験的な要素の強い作品なのであらすじを紹介してもあまり意味がないので、レビューが書きにくいのですが……

カフカ、ムージル、カネッティなどと並ぶ、２０世紀ドイツ語文学の巨匠、ヘルマン・ブロッホの代表作が文庫で復刊です

大部の作品ですが、長さにひるまず一気に読むのが、通読するコツです
もう一つの代表作「ヴェルギリウスの死」に比べるとこちらの方が読みやすいし、解説も充実しているので、ブロッホ入門としては最適だと思います
