好きな作家を問われたらとっさに思い浮かぶ作家のひとりになった著作集。中でも、本書に収録されている「花束」の中で語られる“追憶の溜息”は読んだ当時の私をとても元気付けた。あの頃は良かったな、と思い出して吐く溜息は決して後ろ向きではない。前に進むための一服の清涼剤だという。日々の中で感じるちょっとした感情をきちんと言葉にしている。

今はなき、”乙女”が隠れて読んでいそうな作品の数々。私も「アップルパイの午後」を読んでいるとまるで自分が乙女になってしまったような気持ちになります...。「第七官界彷徨」も収録されていて、これは時代的なものも有るであろう恋愛に不器用（それだけでなく、みんな何かに不器用にみえる）な人たちのおかしみあふれる日常を描いている。大きな山場やオチのようなものはなく、淡々としている。私はこの淡々としている感じが好きで、そういった部分だけで言えば、太宰治の「富岳百景」と通ずるものが有る気がする。

今や、嶽本の活躍ででしょうか、少女のバイブルとも言われるようになった尾崎翠。読まざるものは少女であるべからず、って感じですね。でも私は残念ながら、感度が低いためか、彼女の作品に共感できないばかりか、うまいとも思わない、一作読んでも次を読もうという気が全然しないんですね。大島弓子と、双生児のように似ているって意見にしても、どうかなとも思いますしね。
しかし、少女達にとったら、これに共感できる物だけが少女であるなんて言われたくないと思いますね。嶽本も同じくね。まぁ私は男ですから何も分かりません、もしかしたらそうじゃないのかもしれないですが、そうじゃないかもしれないのです。結局男は女には、女は男になれないのですから。
