自然科学を志す者にとって大変刺激的（扇情的ではなく）で良い本です。現代の自然科学はできるだけ少ない原理から純粋に論理的に理論を構築して現象を説明しようとするわけですが、科学者ですら、思い込みによって現象と原理とを混同するということが指摘してあり、自分の思考法を振り返る機会を与えてくれます。
ただし、どうも誤訳が多いのではないかと思われます。物理や数学の問題の解法を単純に説明しているところで全く意味の通らない部分があります。訳者は自然科学の専門家ではなく哲学の専門家のようですが、時には自分でも理解できない部分について文法だけを頼りに訳文を拵えているのではないかと思われます。
