『週末起業』（ちくま新書、2003年）の出版から6年。「日本を、起業家であふれる国にする！」（p.7）という、その時のポジティヴな使命感は今回はややトーンダウン。なぜなら、前作時には「サラリーマンのやりがい、生きがいとして」（p.9）提唱した「週末起業」が、経済環境の変化に伴い、会社勤めによるリスクから身を守る「サバイバル術」（p.9）に変貌したからだ、と著者は「はじめに」で主張する。

まず第1章「雇われる生き方がリスクになった」では、サラリーマンの雇用環境の悪化の進行とともに、「日本のサラリーマンも、」（30年前の）「アメリカのサラリーマンと同じ道を歩む」（p.30）、すなわち「多くのホワイトカラーが職場を追われ、やむを得ず起業する人がどんどん生まれ」（p.27）ていくのではないか、という著者の見通しが示される。そこで「自立」、より具体的には、会社勤めからの「給与をもらいながら、他の収入源も確保する」（p.42）道を探るべしということになる。、続く第2章「週末起業のまばゆい魅力」において、「「週末起業」は、「会社を辞めずに」「お金をかけずに」「インターネットを利用して」行う起業です。」（p.47）という定義が与えられ、「週末起業」のメリット、デメリットと、「週末起業」を始めるにあたっての注意点が簡潔に説明される。

以下、簡潔に紹介すると、第3章「安く、早く、確実に稼ぐ」では、幾つかの成功例がケーススタディとして示され（大概、この手の本には「失敗例」というのは載らないようだが）、「週末起業」始めるに当たってのFAQにお答えしますというのが、第4章「ネットをうまく利用しよう」。で、始めたとして、そのビジネス（日本語で「商売」）をどのように上昇軌道に乗せていくかを考えるのが第5章「めざせ月商50万円！」である。最後の第6章「トラブル回避のための法律講座」は、副業としての「週末起業」を、本業の就業規則とどのように折り合いをつけたら良いかについてのノウハウが語られ、締めは当然、「週末起業」の判断は自己責任で、というもの。

当座、起業を意識している人のみならず、今後の人生設計を見据えて、起業も念頭にあるという人や、何だか「起業」という言葉が気になるというだけの人にとっても、それぞれに本書の通読から何がしかの情報や見方を得るところがある内容になっていると思う。

　「週末起業」の著者が書いた本です。サラリーマンの仕事をしている方が、「好きな事を仕事に出来る」「天職が見つかる」ために読まれるといい本です。
　サラリーマンのあなたが何時リストラに遭うか分からない時代になってきました。終身雇用で親方日の丸の仕事で会社に行っていればいい時代は終わったと思います。
　今のサラリーマンの仕事をしながら他の収入源をどのように探して、どのように大きくしたらいいか説明してあります。
　週末起業を成功させるには、まず一歩踏み出して、そして止めることなく地道に続ける、成功するまで続ければ失敗はしません。
　失敗して戻らない限り成功への道を歩んでいるのですから。サラリーマンの方が副業を始めるためにまず入門書として読まれるといい一冊です。

　いつリストラの憂き目に遭うか分からない会社勤めにしがみつかず、生活が給与で担保
されているうちに給与所得以外の収入を得る能力を身につけようという本書。

　たとえ身近に週末起業している同僚がいたとしても、周囲の人間に口外したりはしない。
ましてやノウハウを教えてくれたりはしない。何故なら本業との兼ね合い（就業規則や
妬み等）があるからだ。そんな、会社で得られないノウハウを本書は惜しげもなく教え
てくれる。特に、本業との関係（会社にだまってやる、ばれてしまった時の対処等）は参
考にしたい。

　週末起業によって経済的自立、自己研鑽したいという会社員にお勧めしたい。副業でお
小遣いを増やしたいという人にはお勧めしない。本書は副業を進めているわけではないの
だから。
