著者略歴 (「BOOK著者紹介情報」より)

矢田部 英正
1967年東京生まれ。筑波大学大学院卒。体育学修士。3代前からの音楽一家に生まれながら、5歳にして前方倒立回転跳びをものにし、学生時代は体操競技の選手として活躍。選手時代の姿勢訓練が嵩じて、日本伝統の身体技法を研究する。国際日本文化研究センター研究員を経て、文化女子大学大学院で衣服や履物と身体技法との関連を研究。博士号取得(被服環境学)。身体を軸とした物質文化研究では、椅子、食器、服飾、建築と幅広い守備範囲を持つ。現在、武蔵野身体研究所主宰(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

日本人の文化的、歴史的伝統を「日本人の身体」という視点から
美しい文章で解き明かしていく。著者はプロフィールに書いてある通り
「音楽一家」に生まれた「身体研究家」らしい。
それも納得。読後感が一冊の詩歌集を読み終えたときのようだった。
日本人的体型にコンプレックスを持っている人にはおすすめ。
まさしく「目から鱗」の連続で、自分の日本人としての「自尊心」を
その「身体感」から確実に取りもどすことができると思う。
