　苦笑しつつも一番同情したのはゲン、
「以下、ゲン」なんて他の古典本で呼ばれたことは
なかったでしょうに…。
（さて、ゲンって誰でしょうね）

　こんなふうに大塚ひかり経由で源氏の登場人物が
どんどん血の通った人間となって身近になる喜び、
ああ、もっと早く出会いたかったな。

　そしてマジメなことを言えば、大塚ひかりの
読み方…自身の背負っている負の部分さえも物語に
のせていくといった、実は彼女のキマジメな部分が
スキ。
　
　心から共感できる解説を書いたのは米原万里。
ホント、大塚ひかりって紫式部の強烈なPRエージェントだ。

源氏がサイテーなんて、当たり前のことじゃん、
と思いながら手に取った本書。
いやぁ、サイテーの度合いがね、違ったんですね。

普通は「女たらしだけれども、細やかに心配りをして、誠実な面も一応ある」
というふうに、根本的には源氏を悪く言ってないのが、普通の解説本。
でもこの本は、痛烈に源氏を悪く言ってるんです。
批判じゃないんです。
ほんとにサイテーと言ってます。
その言い方がまた痛快で、笑いました。

源氏ですらそうなので、他の本でも最低男と言われている
薫の君にいたっては、ボロクソです。
また、珍しいことに桐壷帝が非常に批判されてます。
このあたり、江川漫画と共通します。

結論から言ってしまうと、痛快で面白い本である。

世の中に数多ある美化の衣を剥ぎ取ってみると、そこにあるのはどうしようもない「サイテー」ぶりを晒す男ばかり。源氏とは確かにそういう物語である。
（著者も言うとおり、だからこそ読み継がれているのであるが。）

著者の自分史とオーバーラップさせつつ、親子関係の観点から読み解いていくという視点も面白いし、薫と浮舟のすれ違いに焦点を絞りつつ展開される最終章も読ませる。

不満が残るとすれば、肝心の光源氏に関してである。確かに光源氏の晩年は、若かりし頃に比べて暗いものであったことは間違いない。だが、光源氏は単に、そうした暗い晩年に絶望しつつ、老醜を晒して死んでいったわけではない。出家の直前、かつてにも優るとも劣らない「光る君」として描写されていることに、筆者の関心が向いていないのは残念である。浮舟の身の処し方の先行モデルは、この光源氏にあると思うのだが…。

そのあたりに関しては、大和和紀の読み込みのほうに軍配を上げたい。
