無数に存在する「読書法」関連の著作の中で、もっとも軽快かつ濃厚。

本の流通事情から、図書館、古本屋との付き合い方、本棚の並べ方まで、
親切丁寧に、おもしろく章が進む。読書人にとって有益な情報満載。

コンセプトは極めて明確。「不良の読書」へのガイド。タイトルの通りである。

目次から奥付まで、きっちり、線を引き引き、一言一句漏らさず、机に座って、本を読む。
そんな「マジメなよいこ」がここでの「不良」の敵である。
「不良」は面白そうなところだけ、さらっと、勝手に解釈し、寝転がって、本を読む。

「マジメ」から「不良」へ。

ようするに。
「パラノ」から「スキゾ」ってことでしょうか。（うはっ！）

この本も、さらっと読みましょう！

ただ私は、じっくり、線を引き引き、机に座って、読んでしまいましたが…。

　ここでいう『不良』とは、『徒党を組んで弱い人を脅かして金をまき上げたり、あぶないクスリをたしなんだりする人々のことではない。コンビにの前で大股広げてしゃがんで、タバコを吸いながら通行人を睨みつけ、路上に痰を吐くような人々のことでもない』（本書『はじめに』p.13より）
　では何か？　『世の中の悲劇や不幸の大半』を作る『マジメなよい子』に対する、その反対の人という意味の、不良です。そして、不良になるには、本をたくさん読めばいいとのことです。
　しかし今、本は、世の中に満ち溢れています。いい本ならともかく、読む価値のない本まで、初めから最後まで読んでいたのでは、時間の無駄です。買ってしまった本は、読まなきゃ損、と思いますが、それ以上に、時間がもったいないのです。
　そこで著者は、『ゴダール式読書法』を勧めています。
　『本はテキトーなところを二〇~三十ページも読めばいい』（p.34）というのがゴダール式読書法です。
　この本も、この『ゴダール式読書法』について書かれている部分だけ読めば、ちょうど20~30ページの量になります。
　その他の部分は、新刊書店や出版業界・流通のしくみから、古本屋や図書館まで、本に関係する、雑学的内容になっています。
　私としては、このその他の部分の方が、興味深く、おもしろく、読めました。
　このレビューのタイトルに書いた疑問が解けました。なるほど、20~30ページしか読まないのであれば、内容を的確に表す書名をつけても、意味がないという訳か。

単行本で刊行されたのが９７年。まだ（日本では）ネット揺籃期なのでちょっと情報的に古くなっているところはありますが割りと面白い読書術・出版業界論です。本は「タッチ・アンド・バイ」は、本当にその通り、悩んだら買えにはわたしも大賛成。図書館や古本屋利用術、出版業界最大の懸案、再販制度のあり方などスルドイ視点も。
