　竹中労節が堪能できる一冊。
　著者が倒れる直前の連載原稿も収録されており、ルポライターの執念のようなものが、読む者を圧倒する。
　ルポライターたるもの、書くことそのものが生きることなのだというメッセージを受け取ったような気がした。

私は生前の竹中労を知らない世代の人間である。この本に出合ったのは２０００年、せめてもう１０年早く生まれてくればよかったと本気で後悔した。どんな分野であれ、ライターという職業を目指す人には必読の一冊である。

とにかく熱い。私は、何度読んでもその熱意に圧倒されて涙がでる。彼の作品は一見シリアスに思えないテーマもあるが、中身はずしりと重い。あんな文章を書ける人はいない。なぜなら、「反権力」をテーマに生きるとは、イコール「捨て身」だからだ。保身に走るのが普通の人間、よって彼は尋常ではない。

多くの人を敵にまわしたが、敵味方を分けるメソッドはただひとつ。彼は、「弱い者の味方についた」。誰に頼まれたわけでもないのに徹底して弱い側の味方につき、その代弁者となった。その生き様に尊敬の念を持ってご紹介する。

私は、竹中労がテレビなどでレギュラーを持っていた時代を知っている。
あの「全日本歌謡選手権」（天童よしみ、五木ひろし　などがここから巣立っていった）の
レギュラー解説者だった頃、とにかく発言が過激だった。
今思うと、あれは過激だったのではなく、強い者、理不尽なものに容赦なく噛みついていたことがわかる。
それは、ジャーナリストとしての基本でもある。

大手マスコミがジャーナリズムの誇りをなくし、週刊誌も露骨な揚げ足取り記事が目立つ。
どこを見てもチョーチン記事のオンパレードだ。
そんな中、生涯、「アナーキスト」として権力に歯向かい続けた竹中労の、
真骨頂があらわされているのがこの本だ。

すでに亡くなって久しいが、今こそこの本を読み返す意味があると思う。

「篦棒な人々」の著者、竹熊健太郎の「解説」は必見！
