武田百合子さんの、なにものにもとらわれていない無垢な五感（味覚にかぎらず！）がつむぎだす、新鮮な文章が素敵なエッセイ集です。味覚の記憶のなかに、ひそかに”死”の影をひそませた「枇杷」や「牛乳」は何度読んでもしみじみとしてしまう、あきない文章です、お薦めです。

4.0 out of 5 stars ほかに誰も書けない, 2004/5/21
　穏やかで平凡な題名とはかなり違った内容の本。いったい、武田百合子という人は天才的な素人なのか、素人のふりをしている天才なのか。
　冒頭の「枇杷」を読んで、茫然となる。だいぶ後からじわっと涙が出た。亡くなった自分の夫の記憶をこんな文章で表現できる人って、ちょっといない。

　他に印象的だった個所は、天井裏にお雛様がしまわれていると思い込んでいた子供の頃のイメージ（雛祭りの頃）、骨董の柱時計を買って帰る途中にその時計が鳴り始めたときの描写（上野の桜）など。呆けかけている老女が語り続ける「花の下」、かなしくて愛らしい。
　イラストがあまり合っていない気がするのが残念．．．。

これ以上の随筆というものは自分にとってないかも、
と思うくらい魅力を感じ続けている一冊です。
物事を見たそのままに切り取る作者の目と感性の斬新さに驚き、
笑い、泣きそうになります。
ありのままに、時に残酷なくらい鋭く物事を描き出しながらも
同時に文章には作者のまっすぐな優しさが貫かれていると思う。
天衣無縫、おおらかで大胆なイメージも強い作者だけれど
この本の中の、特に過去の記憶をたどる文章では、その繊細さや孤独が
強く感じられるような気がします。
もう何度繰り返し読んだかわかりません。
それでも飽きないし、大好きな本です。
