宮沢 賢治
1896年(明治29年)、岩手県花巻市に生まれ、1933年(昭和8年)、37歳で没。県立盛岡中学を経て、盛岡高等農林学校卒。幼い頃より宗教に親しみ、植物、鉱物採集にも熱中、また短歌も数多く作る。22歳頃初めての童話を書き、以後、創作と農業指導に献身。この二つの道は、賢治の短かい生涯を貫く、重要な柱となる(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

「銀河鉄道の夜」や「注文の多い料理店」のような賢治の代表作と言われる作品はこの本には納められていません。ですが、「よだかの星」や「ひかりの素足」、「二十六夜」など、それに繋がる重要な作品がここには納められています。

　「二十六夜」は、梟の和尚が梟たちに梟鵄守護章というお経について説き聞かせた三晩のお話です。そのお経は梟が小さな鳥や田螺をとって食べることの罪深さを、そしてそれが永遠に続くことの哀しさを説いています。そうした中で、和尚の話を熱心に聞いていた、おとなしいこどもの梟の穂吉が人間のこどもに捕まえられてしまいます。穂吉は次の日に放されますが、おもしろ半分に人間のこどもに脚を折られていたのでした。普段は他の生き物を捕らえている自分が、逆に捕らえられる身になると、それに怒りや憎しみを感じる矛盾や哀しさが描かれています。三日目の夜に穂吉は脚の傷のために死んでしまうのですが、二十六月齢の月に乗って現れた疾翔大力（菩薩）に迎えられるというお話です。

　「銀河鉄道の夜」の中のさそりの火のエピソードと同じようなテーマですが、梟の子が人間の子どもに面白半分に傷つけられることで、より感情移入させられてしまいます。 　また、疾翔大力が月に乗っている情景や、「ひかりの素足」の中で描かれる彼岸の情景は、その主題とは別に賢治の仏教への想いがイメージとして見ることができて興味深いです。

　作品のひとつひとつには天沢退二郎氏の解説が付けられていて、とても参考になります。

5.0 out of 5 stars 疲れて何も読む気がしなくなった時には、宮沢賢治がおススメです。, 2008/7/8
本書には「風野又三郎」がおさめられている。おなじみの又三郎と思いきや、読み進めると何か違う、こんなだったかなあ、まあ気にせず先を読もう、と続けると面白さにどんどん引き込まれていく。そして読後もこの不思議な感じが抜けない。「風野又三郎」、アレなんかタイトルが違うよなあ、そうか、よく知っているのは「風の又三郎」だ、と合点がいく。こっちの風野又三郎もいいよね。サイクルホール最高！
