白日社　脳と自然と日本　2001、手入れ文化と日本　2002　を文庫化。

基本的には養老ワールドに変化は無い。脳が化けた脳化社会になり、「知」は若い人たちにはノウハウになっている。
自分が育って来た様に育てないことが「進歩」になっている。
人間にとって自然が遠ざかると、人間の家畜化が起こってくる。
社会は「考えない前提」を置いてきている。
都会では女、子供が損です、それは、より自然に近いからです。
ああすればこうなる、こうすればああなるといってものごとを進めていくことを、私どもは「進歩」と長いあいだ呼んできました。それはそれでいいのですが、じつは人間の一生は、それだけじゃない。なぜならば、人の一生そのものは、ああすればこうなると明らかに決まっていません。

養老先生の考えとますます逆方向に進んでいる様に見える日本。
「考える」事の重要性を考えねばなるまい。

　｢バカの壁｣(新潮新書)にはじまった養老孟司ブームいまだ衰えず。手に入りにくかった｢脳と自然と日本｣｢手入れ文化と日本｣(共に白日社刊)を再編集した1冊で,1990年代の様々な講演会での発言10本を起こしたもの。これだけ著者の本が店頭に溢れ,その思想･思考が一般的になると,どうしても内容的に目新しさに欠けてしまう。
　養老ファンとしては好みの分かれるところで,講演録というそもそもの成り立ち上,仕方がないとは思うが,｢バカの壁｣のように解りやすく丁寧な｢〜です｣｢〜ます｣調でもいいという人はともかく,｢唯脳論｣｢身体の文学史｣｢涼しい脳味噌｣などの簡潔な名文と鋭いレトリック展開との格闘のような読書体験を期待すると不満が残る。

講演録とは言え、かなり気合いの入った内容です。
それでも、難しくはなく、今まで書いてきたこと、喋ったことの反復です。
そういうわけで、同じ内容が所々重複してしまうということも起こります。
この人の感覚は、何かに似ている、そう、ビートたけしである。
ナチュラルに構えていこうということ、つまりは諸行無常を謳っている訳です。
