これからイギリスへ行く予定の方、イギリスにあこがれているけど向こうのどんな食べ物がおいしいかご存知でない方！この本には、たくさんのイギリスの情報とともにきれいな水彩画タッチの挿絵がほどこされ、とてもかわいくイギリスが紹介されています。

実際、渡英前に私もこの本の読んでいたので、向こうでの交通事情・おいしい紅茶とそのお供のお菓子・イギリスならではのかわいい街等々、楽しく過ごすことが出来ました！特に、絵とともに書かれている作者のコメントは、一人旅の私にとって役立つことばかりでした！ヨーロッパも行ったことのなかった私には、この本は頼りになるお友達！といえる一冊でした。きっと、お気に入りに一冊になることと思います。

著者は、イラストを担当しているお友達と毎回イギリスへ一緒に旅行しています。
英語があまり得意でない二人組が、奮闘しながらも行き当たりばったりの気ままなイギリス旅行を満喫している様子が伝わってきて、本当に楽しそうです。
ジャケットポテトの大きさやアフタヌーンティーとクリームティーの違いや、ｉ（ツーリストインフォメーション）の便利さ等々、ささいなようで他の本では知ることが出来ない（おそらく基本的過ぎて）内容が盛りだくさん！
私は全くといって良いほど英語を話せませんが、今月に初のイギリス一人旅をしてきました。その直前にこの本を読むことが出来て幸運でした。何しろ具体的に書いてあるので、初心者にとってはこれ以上の本は無いといっても過言ではありません。数ある海外旅行に関する情報誌やエッセイ等の中でも、英語があまり話せない人が書いた本は私が知る限りこの本だけでした。
特にヨークに関しては色々と書いてあります。
イギリス初心者、海外旅行初心者は是非とも読んでほしいです。
