行政書士という法律系職業の名前を一躍有名にしたのは漫画「カバチたれ！」でしたが、
本書は小説版「カバチたれ！」だと思います。
「行政書士ってどんなことをする仕事なんですか？」
と興味をお持ちの方は読んでみると、きっと面白いと思います。

法律に携わる仕事と言っても結局実際は人と人がコミュニケーションをとりながらする仕事に変わりはない。そして、そこにはさまざまなドラマが発生する。行政書士の仕事を紹介しながら、それに絡むいろいろな人間模様が面白い。許認可などを行政に申請する仕事っていろいろ条件をクリアしなきゃいけなくて面白そうだなぁと思った。

主人公となったテレビドラマがあったおかげで、資格名が世間に知られるようになった法律家の行政書士。しかしその業務自体を理解してもらえているかと言えば疑問である。

実は行政書士達自身も、自分達が何ができるかを日々模索している。よく知られている業務は許認可業務であるが、日本には8,000から10,000という許認可があると言われている（規制緩和により減りつつあるが）。そのため、行政書士が出来る業務の10パーセントをやったことがある者は、何十年も、何百件も依頼を受けている大ベテランでも少ないのではないか。

この本は幅広い業務を紹介することによって、世間に対して身近にいる行政書士をアピールするのに大きな役割を果たしている。もちろん、新しく行政書士として社会の役に立とうと考えている者にとっては、バイブルとなるであろう。
