欧米のほとんどのビジネススクールで、統計学はMBAを取得す
るための必修科目になっています。どうして、統計がビジネス・リーダーに必要
なんだろう。そんな疑問への答えは、本書を読み進めば自ずと明らかになります。

日本では統計学というと、理系の学問というイメージが強く、文系出身者には、
どうも苦手意識があるようです。しかしながら、統計学はデータを読み解き、そ
こから企業戦略を考えるには不可欠なツールです。膨大なデータが氾濫する今だ
からこそ、データが語っている現実を正しく理解し、他人のデータ解釈に騙され
て判断を誤らない、そんな目が求められるのです。そのような目を与えてくれる
のが、基本的な統計の考え方です。

本書は欧米のビジネススクールで用いられているテキストで、監訳者自身もこれ

ビジネスに限らず、統計学的言語をある程度の水準で使いこなすことは、どの分野においても重要である。そしてそういう統計リテラシーが益々重要になることは、多分間違いないのではないだろうか。

本書は、上下二巻と量も膨大であり、また価格も安くはない。独習は決して簡単ではないが、ありふれた陳腐な表現で恐縮だが、「自分への投資」として必ずや大きな見返りのあるものである。

本書（上下）の内容を理解し、使えるようになれば、少なくともビジネススクールで、Stats系の科目に苦労することは、一切なくなるであろう。本書は、コアのStatsの内容を越えた内容をカバーしており、かつExcelのツールセットや、良質な問題および回答が、ついているので、統計をはじめて学ぶ人のみならず、理解を深めたり、復習を目的とする人にとっても、役に立つ。資産的に、長期保有する意味のある本だ、と思う。

ＭＢＡの統計学の教科書の下巻

下巻は上巻で扱った統計の基礎を用い実際の分析に踏み込んでいる．
ＡＮＯＶＡ（分散分析）から始まる下巻は，単回帰分析（10章），
重回帰分析（11章），時系列（12章）そしてノンパラメトリック（13章）
まで説明している．

単回帰や時系列はExcelのグラフでもよくあるのでそんなには驚かないのですが
まさかノンパラメトリックまでExcelで説明している点はすごいなと思います．

Excelの限界まで使っているということは限界を超えた世界については
述べられていない点です．主成分分析，因子分析，共分散分析など
ビジネスで使えそうな統計手法については述べられていません．
副題の"Complete Business Statistics"から考えると不足しているかな
と思い評価が少し低い点です

ひたすらビジネス上の問題を例題に扱って，どのように有用なのかを
わかりやすく説明している点はとても飛び抜けています．
ビジネスのシーンで使える本として名著ではないかと思います．
