1952年、大阪生まれ。大阪大学、マサチューセッツ工科大学(MIT)卒。工学博士(PhD)、経営学修士(MBA)。神戸製鋼所を経て、GE(ゼネラル・エレクトリック)に勤務。製品開発・マーケティング部門のリーダー、日本GE役員などの要職を歴任。その後テラダイン(日本法人)代表取締役を経て、2006年7月(株)チェンジ・マネジメント・コンサルティング設立。代表取締役に就任。日本ファシリテーション協会理事(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

面白いことは面白い。

だが、前作のようにファシリテーションの現場を
リアリティをもって疑似体験できるような効果は、薄らいでいる。
その分テーマがよりダイナミックになったともいえるが。

前作にあった
「こういうのあるある」「これはヒントになるなあ」「こんなときこうすればいいのね」
などといった、実際のファシリテーション現場にいかせるネタは少ない。

あと、登場人物たちが妙に物わかりがよく、
かつ分析的、評論家的コメントばかりしていて凄みがない。
本当に困っている感じがしない。

ファシリテーションに興味を持って読みましたが、この本自体がファシリテーションを使ってビジネスを切り開く主人公二人の物語になっており、読みやすいことに加え、大変プラクティカルな小説です。

ファシリテーションの入門書などは、効果的な声のかけ方や図の書き方などテクニックに走ってしまっていて、ファシリテーションの本質を理解することができないものが多いのですが、この本を読むことによってファシリテーションの本質を理解することができました。

この本の中で使われるフレームワークの用語解説やアイスブレーク集など、『「ファシリテーター」の読み方』のような続編が出ることを期待しております。

本書は、一見米国風企業改革の手法を紹介しているようだが、実は現在の日本企業の有り様を考えさせてくれる触媒になる名著と思う。　前作は、ファシリテーションの紹介本という位置付けで読んだ。　本書は、ファシリテーションは、ツールでありその狙いは、日本企業における”研究開発”の有り様、存在意義を考えさせてくれる。企業の中央研究所の時代は終わったとか言われる昨今、日本の産業リーダーは真摯に時代を先取りしたリーダーシップをとっているのか？　と本書を読んで考えさせられた。自らリスクを命がけでとり時代を切り開いていく矜持をもった経営者が何人いるのだろう、この国に。　単に問題の先送りをしているだけの経営者が日本企業にあふれてはいないだろうか？　米国型企業改革手法を鏡として自らを再考するきっかけを本書は与えてくれた。
