GMを世界屈指の巨大企業に成長させた元GM社長であるアルフレッド・P・スローンの幻の名著です．経営理念から戦略論・組織論まで，スローンの経営手法が凝縮されています．特筆すべきは，スローンがGMだけではなく自動車業界ひいては合衆国全体の発展を切に望んでいたことが本書から伝わってくることでしょう．

著者の自慢話かと思いきや、驚くべき近代経営が２０世紀初頭に米国で繰り広げられていた事に愕然とする．経営の才に恵まれたと自負する著者のみなぎる自信と履歴は圧倒的な破壊力で迫ってくる．
かような経営書が３０年以上前に発刊されていたかと認識すると、最近の店頭でみかける、えせ経営書の類が一気に色褪せて見えてしまう．
そんな本です．お勧め．

5.0 out of 5 stars 優れた翻訳のおかげで、読みやすくなっている経営の名著, 2003/10/7
経営、組織の在り方について、当事者であり最高意思決定者がどのような考えで、どのような問題に決断を下してきたのか。それがはっきりとわかる。

一章、一章が優れたケースであり、業界や、企業規模が違ったとしても、ヒントになることが満載である。

従って、一度通読するだけでなく、執務机なり部屋なりに備えておき、自社の課題にあたる章をひもとく。そのような読み方ができるだろう。そして、この稀有な経営者の考えに触れることで、迷いや悩みへの対処の仕方が見えてくると思う。

とりわけ、この翻訳版は、実に滑らかな日本語であり、また、訳語も外していないと感じられる。原著の質を裏切らない名訳。
