この本をもってこのゴールデンウィークにUEFA CLバルセロナVSチェルシーとレアルマドリードVSバルセロナを見に行ってきます!この本があれば個人で行けますし、ガイド付きツアーなど余計な費用もかかりませんよ!あとは電子辞書くらいかな!とにかく楽しみ!カンプノウやサンティアゴベルナベウの行き方もわかったし、行ってきます。

直近では、マドリッドに行った際に、バスク地方のビルバオにある
ヨーロッパ・ソフトウェア研究所（ESI)を訪問しました。
ビルバオでは宿を予約してなく、現地に行ってからホテルを取りました。
当日ESIの方がホテルを手配してくださって、無事宿泊できました。
バスク語の辞書など、バスク語に関する資料を購入しました。

バルセロナに行ったときには、ホテル　ガウディに泊まりました。
ガウディが建てはじめて、現在も建築中のる教会にも行きました。

ホテル　ガウディの少し先は、治安の悪い地区だと地球の歩き方に書いてありました。
実際に、道を間違えて、違う筋に入ったら、不穏な雰囲気でした。
くれぐれも地球の歩き方で、治安の悪い地区を確認しましょう。

マドリッドでは、マドリッド大学と、国会図書館に行きました。
一般観光客は利用できないと言われましたが、研究目的であることと、 仕事を説明して入館させてもらいました。

いつも、困ったことがあると、地球の歩き方を開いて、どうしようかと考えます。

そこに解決策が書いてない場合でも、頭がパニックになっている状態から、冷静さを取り戻すための道具として利用しています。

道端で「地球の歩き方」を出していると日本人観光客だとばれるので、盗難の機会が増えるかもしれませんので注意は必要かも。

　本書片手に2008年8月上旬、バスク地方の主要都市であるビルバオとゲルニカを旅してきました。
　本書における両都市の記述はあわせてもわずかに６ページ。それ以外にも、スペイン国内における飛行機による移動に関する解説やスペイン語の料理メニューの読み方など、今回の旅で私が参考にした分量は総計でも１０ページをわずかに超える程度でしょう。
　５００ページ近い分量を持つこのガイドブックを買って旅先に持参したのは効率が悪い作業だったといえるかもしれません。

　それは最初から私も了解していたことです。それでも私は本書をあえてもって行きました。旅のガイドブックは小さな町を観光する際には一種の保険、その程度に考えて実際に見て回るときには現地の観光案内所で無料の地図をもらったり、名所旧跡を教えてもらったりして過ごすことが多いのです。今回も本書に掲載されていないビルバオの海事博物館やゲルニカのヘンリー・ムーアの巨大屋外彫刻作品などは現地で紹介されて初めて知ったものでした。

　なお私は本書の小口部分に、100円ショップで購入したインデックス･シールを独自に貼って目次をつけました。「ビルバオ」、「ゲルニカ」や「メニューのスペイン語」など、幾度も現地で参照する機会の多い頁を即座に引けるようにするためです。参考になれば幸いです。
