鹿児島県生まれ。中央美術学園デザイン科卒業。グラフィックデザイナーを経て、現在、イラストレーター・絵本作家として活躍中。1997年、「ニッサン童話と絵本のグランプリ」で絵本部門優秀賞を、98年にも同グランプリで絵本部門最優秀賞を受賞。1999年『リリ』(BL出版)で産経児童出版文化賞・ニッポン放送賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

「わくわくちくわくん」というタイトルのひびきが軽やかでいいですね。

一人暮らしをしている　ちくわくんが　退屈しのぎに　わくわく探検にでかける話。
ですが、この姿かたちをしている時点で、退屈なんてありえないでしょうな（笑）

もしも、あなたが朝起て、ちくわの姿になっていたことを想像してみてください。
食材だけに、犬や猫はさけるよう気を使うし、細長い穴のあいた体は慣れるまで
時間がかかりそう。人間に会ったときはどう対応すればいいだろう…
マジに考えるといろいろ大変そうでしょう？

なんて勝手な心配は無用、ちくわくんはちくわなりに毎日をエンジョイしている
ようですね。それに比べると　本書に登場する　おつかい中の女の子は　
なんて普通なんだろうと思えてきました。

ちょとだけ脱日常気分を満たしてくれる作品といえます。

全く関係ないけど、高桑くんは元気だろうか？
「わくわくたかくわくん」なんて言葉がふと出たもので…
