実現できる可能性が1％未満と分かっていて、人は敢えてその夢に挑戦し、追い続けることはできるのか？
これは回想録ではなく、今もアメリカで前人未到の夢に向かって奮闘し続けている若者の生の日記だ。

作家では無い筆者の率直な言葉の一つ一つが、返って私の気持ちにす~っと入り込み、そして揺るぎ無い強い気持ちに触れる度に、色々な事をごまかす事に慣れた自分の心がチクリとさせられる。久しぶりに味わう感覚だが心地良い。
野球を知らなくても、何かが物足りないと感じている人に是非読んでいただきたい一冊。お薦めします。

前に大リーグの審判に挑戦している青年がいると知ってネットでいろいろ調べたら、その世界の厳しさにビックリ。この本を買って読んで更にビックリ。並大抵のチャレンジではないですね。でも、人は一つの夢が叶わなかったときでも、その周辺で新しい夢を見つけて再チャレンジできることを知りました。この本は何年にもわたる熱いそのチャレンジが書かれています。
この本の著者の内川さんは、ひところテレビＣＭとかにも出ていたと思うのですが、残念ながら大リーグの審判になることはできなかったんですね。でも、また再々チャレンジで、審判学校を日本につくる夢に向かって挑戦していて、彼に憧れて大リーグで審判にチャレンジしている青年が今３人もいることをテレビで知ってまたビックリしました。（因みに僕が見たのはケーブルテレビの全国番組でした）
